In 1995, CraftSmith introduced the FairwayCleek driving iron.  It was the first of five multi-purpose, utility irons that were designed to be as close to idiot proof as possible.  In addition to being a pretty club, it actually did everything we designed it to do ... and more!

We sold more than $300,000 of this club in a three month period ...
this type of long approach iron is the least marketable club in the game ... conceive of the marketability of a well designed putter, wedge or whole set!

If you want a club to perform differently, then it must be designed to be different from other clubs!

Our clubs are designed for and targeted at the true golf market ... poorly skilled players.  In spite of great improvements in teaching and equipment, scoring statistics have not changed very much in the last twenty years.  Ninety percent of all golfers cannot break 90!

CraftSmith took a second look at how clubs were designed.  Our first conclusion is that traditionally trained engineers don't know diddly about human performance science ... bio-mechanics, kinesiology, motor learning and sports psychology.  Without these tools, they are doomed to repeat the same mistakes of previous design efforts.  We considered the "nut" on the end of the handle ... what your nervous system requires to learn and to produce good golf shots!

Since the introduction of the original FairwayCleek, we have made some design modifications to the FairwayCleek (based on customer feedback).  We have also completed the design for the remaining utility irons and a mallet style putter.
